The condition of your skin, contrary to what most people believe, is directly related to your lifestyle, especially to the way you eat and take care of yourself. People who suffer from dry skin usually live on poor diets of fried foods, fatty foods and excess oil in foods. Abuse of your liver, usually caused by large alcohol consumption, also causes dry skin. If you're used to spending a lot of time outdoors and working with your hands, and don't drink enough water, this can also cause dry skin problems. Also, people who live in areas of very low humidity tend to suffer from dry skin. And of course there are certain soaps that contain ingredients that will also dry out your skin. Washing dishes is certainly a nasty culprit for dry skin.

One of the simplest ways to relieve dry skin is simply to soak your hands in warm water. Don't use any soap at all. Just soak in warm water for a few minutes. Then, don't dry your hands. Let them air dry or if you need to dry them quickly because you have things to do, pat dry. Do not rub your hands with the towel.

Another great way to treat dry skin is to message a few drops of glycerine into the dry areas. Add a few drops of lemon oil and you've got a great combination. The best time to do this is just before you go to bed so that this mixture can work overnight. When you wake up, you will notice a big difference in your skin.

If you're going to be doing a lot of work with your hands, wear white cotton gloves while working. This will greatly help in keeping them from drying out and getting chapped. You can also try wearing the gloves to bed at night when you go to sleep if you're not into the glycerin and lemon mixture.

The main thing is to be careful of the creams that you get in pharmacies. These creams have ingredients in them that are not good for your body.
