Smoke Hot Dark
Dark smoke coming out of smoke stack from oil furnace?
Outside racking leaves today and I heard my furnace kick on pretty loud and noticed a big cloud of dark smoke come from my smoke stack. Its a oil burning furnace with forced hot water heat (if that helps).
When was the last time you had your furnance cleaned? Sounds like your furnace is in need of a tuneup. You need to have it tuned up every year. If your furnance is more than 20 years old, its like a 1970 car, and requires annual tuning to maximize efficiency. and the cost will be recouped in 2 months in saved oil.
